We are planning a fabulous weekend and hope you all can be here. We would love to make this year’s attendance the biggest yet!! We especially wish to welcome all the descendants of Flora Clara Steiner/John Adam Raab, and Hermine Ida Steiner/Edward Joseph Klein. We hope to make/renew acquaintances! SPECIAL THANKS to those family members who have submitted a number of new historical documents. We will have them on display to show you.
Our last reunion held in 2009, and we were thrilled with the Hales Family Musicians who performed some fantastic German pieces we all enjoyed!
This year we are very excited to have the Ogden LDS Institute of Religion Folk Dance Team to entertain us with authentic German folk dancing! The troupe was originally founded by the late, Bob and his wife Evelyn Clark, and have been performing dances from around the world since 1978. The Folk Dancers are one of the most sought after dance groups in the area, performing for numerous religious and civic organizations as well as local sporting events. They are annual performers at the Hof (Ogden’s German “sister city”) Winter Festival here in Ogden. I have seen them on many occasions and together with their beautiful, authentic period costumes they never cease to fill their audiences with enthusiasm and excitement. Whether it be the “Lindy,” “Jitterbug,” or “Swing”, selections from Europe, or the islands of the sea, you’ll be well-treated with their varied repertoire! Special thanks goes to Gary J. Delozier, Advisor to the dance troupe for bringing his Folk Dancers!!
KEYNOTE SPEAKER Meg Johnson!!
Meet motivational speaker Meg Johnson! I am thrilled that she has worked us into her schedule to come speak to us! Meg Johnson is the former Ms. Wheelchair Utah. She became a quadriplegic in 2004 while vacationing in Southern Utah, jumping from boulder to boulder. Meg Johnson's last jump landed her at the bottom of the red rock cliffs, lying in the gap that separated her from her target.
Meg will share with us how to get up after you fall and learn to love what brings you down. She teaches how we, no matter our ability, can close the GAPS that distance us from what we want in life.
Since being paralyzed, Meg has demonstrated that physical barriers cannot hold her back from extraordinary accomplishments. Meg is an author and an artist. She founded and directs Ms. Wheelchair Utah, Inc, and is president of her own speaking company, Keep on Rollin’ LLC. Adding to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Meg is the creator of Intermountain Healthcare’s Service Outreach Program. She will address us at our Steiner Family Reunion. Thank you, Meg!
WEBSITE UPDATE for johnmartinsteiner.org
Our webhost Rob Johansen has been working countless hours for our family in creating new code for our website that will enable the site to be self-sustaining as it expands over time. The prototype looks absolutely fantastic! However, he has also been up to his neck with work in the demanding degree he is pursuing. In order to ease his burdens, Sean, with the great assistance of Meg's husband Whit Johnson, has developed this website. In due time, Rob will resume his work in finishing our family website, and will then transfer content from this temporary one at a future date. We will let everyone know when the temporary one is up and going.
Family Talent Show
Please be thinking about participating in our talent show this fall! We would love to have some that have not done so in the past along with some repeat performances. It would be great if Nyle would bring his EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), John, his violin and Keith Rowley to bring his Scottish harp. We would love to have the Dan Rogers Brass Quartet perform. Everyone is welcome to participate!
